The Grammys are on T.V. tonight.
I don't care.
To quote Larry Norman, "I don't like what the radio plays. I don't like what the chart picks."
I won't be watching.
Maybe I'll read a book.

...am I holding up right now?

It used to be fun to watch the spectacle of it, but that was a long time ago. For a few years, I kept going back -- like a squirrel to its SUV-flattened mate on a rural route -- hoping it wouldn't be as bad as I'd remembered. But that was just "magical thinking" -- it just got more and more stinky.
Two words: Mariah Carey.
Two more words: Kanye West.
I don't need to watch.
And, for me, the scariest two words of all: Michael Green.
Funnily enough, that was the decisive moment for someone else who was griping about the Grammies recently. (Water-cooler conversation.) He didn't have a problem with JT, per se, but with the clueless categorization. He never looked back.
For heaven's sake, they gave a Grammy to Barack Obama!
For what?
But hey, are these things totally contrived and politically motivated? Oh, no, no, no, no...yes.
I'm thinking no.
